The engine rebuild.

My Super Sprint 90, engine VIN# V9SSIT 5139, has been stripped down by the team at Retrospective Scooters in their London workshop over the last two months and is now in a position to be re-assembled. It has been worth the wait and it’s great to see the build finally coming to an end.

One issue that the mechanics found was damage to the rotary pad, as shown below. To save the special SS casings the decision was made to go with a reed valve on the induction – this means using a special crank and manifold with a reed valve. The reeds will open and close the inlet instead of the pad and crank.
